Philosophy {Tetsugaku}

    Jujitsu is a Martial art whose techniques evolved on the battlefield of Japan, the emphasis in training is on the practical and effective application of the principal of the system.

     In modern terms, self defence can be said to be the most important aspect of ju-jitsu.  Although the system uses old techniques, each technique learned is practiced against modern forms of attack making the system as relevant today as it was in former times.

    True self defence cannot be learned until certain physical and psychological principles have been understood.  Initial training therefore emphasizes the learning of these principle by means of structured learning drills before attempting to apply them in self defence situations.

   Ju-jitsu is not a system which can be learned overnight and the road to mastery is a long and arduous one.  The more one learns the more one realises that the limits of the system are the limits of ones own mind.
